Animal and every day art by Terri Cournoyer
My art is mostly animals. All my life I have adored animals. I currently own dogs and cats, but I have had horses, cattle, hamsters, rats, mice, gerbils, a squirrel, turtles, lizards, and fish. Faces interest me, especially the expressive faces of animals, so I paint animals.
My goal as an artist is to create work that not only looks beautiful, but also allows the viewer to see deeper into the soul of the animal.
My inspiration from a variety of sources, mainly dogs, but I love the soulful face of a sheep or cow. I also find inspiration in other faces, such as antique teddy bears and beautiful birds.
My goal is to create art that evokes emotion and shares my love and admiration of animals.
I want to make people happy with my art.
I offer custom work as commissions as well as the paintings of the subjects I love.
I also create dog show trophies and awards.
I also offer hand painted Christmas ornaments and wooden eggs.
I have a Bachelor's degree in history and French and a minor in art history from Auburn University. After a career in sales and technology at Xerox Corporation, I started painting almost full time. I started painting my dogs and soon ventured to other dogs and animals. 10 years ago I won a local art contest with a painting of one of my puppies. I now produce a bull terrier themed calendar and sold 100s in the past 10 years. This year, one of my paintings won an international award as well as a regional award.
I raise and show bull terriers and Staffordshire bull terriers and am a new AKC judge.
I love commissions and suggestions, please contact me with any questions or ideas.
